Cesare Attolini
In the 1930s Vincenzo Attolini, head cutter for Gennaro Rubinacci at London House, removed the padding, canvas and lining from the English jacket. His son Cesare made that garment the house's method. Run today by Cesare's sons from Casalnuovo, with roughly 120 tailors and 25 to 30 hours in each suit.

Reading it in the hand
What gets looked at before a piece is catalogued, and what you can check yourself. Nothing here depends on the label.
- Three-roll-two front on a natural shoulder, top button buried in the lapel roll.
- Doppia impuntura — a double row of hand backstitch along the lapel edge and pockets, irregular. Its absence on a claimed Attolini is a red flag.region
- Barchetta breast pocket with the outer corner noticeably lifted.
- Darts unbroken to the skirt hem, visible below the pocket.region
- Unpadded shoulder, hand-set sleeve with gathering, high tight armhole.region
- Lean interior: minimal lining, inner seams piped rather than bagged.region
Marked region — this tell places the garment in its city or its group, not with one maker.
